Julia Tomlin, a 37-year-old woman from Virginia is charged with the murder of her son. She killed her 2-year-old son Noah Tomlin 2019, who may have had autism, and was given a 55-year prison term on Monday.

According to court documents analysed by Law&Crime, Chief Hampton Circuit Court Judge Michael Gaten sentenced Julia L. Tomlin to the maximum term of 55 years in prison on Monday for the brutal 2019 murder of baby Noah Tomlin.
What happened?
After killing her own 2-year-old son, put his body in an empty diaper box, and threw it in the garbage.
On June 24, 2019, Tomlin reported Noah missing, and on July 3, 2019, police discovered his death near the Hampton Steam Plant.
Soon after, Noah’s mangled body was discovered in a nearby waste incineration location, According to the police, Noah’s remains were in an “advanced state” of decomposition.
After reviewing the autopsies and arrest reports, prosecutors informed jurors that Noah Tomlin was most likely tortured before his death.
In 2021, Tomlin pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of her son.

Tomlin confessed at a preliminary hearing in December 2019 that she had used heroin the night before Noah went missing. Police investigators provided evidence of bloodstains on her home.
Tomlin is a mother of 9 other children. After Noah’s death, she lost custody of her other children. Tomlin’s 19-year-old daughter also testified against her mother. Tomlin’s sister-in-law meanwhile claimed she was innocent with Noah dying after battering his own head with the crib due to him having special needs.
Hampton’s Commonwealth attorney, Anton Bell, characterised the nature of the offence in a press release. He stated, “Imagine a baby with no arms, no limbs, and only a few strands of hair from his head.”
He further added, “Noah’s skull had a hole in it that was found to be consistent with an instrument striking it. The medical examiner stated the injuries were consistent with the force of someone being dropped from a multiple story building.”
“Tomlin would later confess that later that night, which was the early morning of June the 23rd, she wrapped Noah’s deceased body, put the body in a diaper box, triple-bagged the box with three trash bags, and gave it to dispose.” added Anton Bell.
She will serve the maximum penalty for the gruesome murder.
