Jigna Vora case and career

Jigna Vora is a writer and journalist. She served as the Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Asian Age. In 2012, she was named in the chargesheet by the Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with the murder of fellow journalist Jyotirmoy Dey. Jyotirmoy Dey was an investigative journalist for Mid-Day, specializing in reporting on the underworld.

He was fatally shot by motorcycle-borne sharpshooters in June 2011. The Mumbai Crime Branch launched an investigation that led to the arrest of seven sharpshooters associated with Chhota Rajan’s gang, known as the “NANA COMPANY.” It was revealed that the shooters were allegedly unaware of Dey’s profession and carried out the killing for Rajan.

However, the case took a surprising turn when Jigna Vora’s name was added to the charge sheet. She was accused of providing Chhota Rajan with information that facilitated the murder, resulting in her being charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and other penal offenses.

According to the police, Jigna Vora was accused of providing the underworld don with Dey’s address and license plate number.  It was suggested that professional rivalry was the motive behind Vora’s alleged involvement in the crime.

In July 2012, Jigna Vora was granted bail. In 2018 the court acquitted both Vora and another accused Joseph Paulson of all charges. Nevertheless, the government lodged an appeal against their acquittal at the Bombay High Court.

After enduring a challenging phase in her life, now 53 year old Jigna Vora has found solace in a new career path. She is now a tarot reader and healer. For the past five years, she has been using her skills in astrology to heal people and offer insights into their future. While she has been acquitted of all charges against her, she is still required to file a bail bond.
