After India’s Got Latent became viral online, Samay became a household name. It is currently among the most popular comedy shows on YouTube. For those who don’t know, Samay was a co-winner of Comicstaan 2, a competition for stand-up comedy.

However, now a formal complaint has been filed against Jessy Nabam, a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh on Raina’s India’s Got Latent as a result of her comments on an episode and the incident’s strong criticism. When host Samay Raina asked Arunachal Pradesh native Jessy if she had ever eaten dog meat, she made the comment.

In response, she stated that people from Arunachal Pradesh often consume dog meat, although she personally had not. She added, “I know this because my friends do, and sometimes they even eat their pets.”

Significant agitation has resulted from the remarks made by Jessy Nabam, particularly among the people of Arunachal Pradesh. On January 31, 2025, a formal complaint was sent to the officer in charge of the Itanagar Police Station in Arunachal Pradesh.

Armaan Ram Welly Bakha, a resident of Seppa in the East Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, filed the complaint, claiming that Jessy’s remarks were disparaging to the state’s indigenous population. According to the FIR, her comments were demeaning and damaged the reputation of the neighbourhood.

Bakha asked the authorities to take immediate action in the FIR and to make sure that such offensive remarks are not repeated again. According to the complaint, “I respectfully ask that you act quickly on this issue, so that no one else can make such statements as Jessy Nabam did.”

On social media, the dispute has swiftly acquired pace, with many people voicing their disapproval of the statements. Concerns have been expressed regarding the representation of individuals from various regions on national forums, especially when such remarks have the potential to reinforce unfavourable stereotypes. Jessy Nabam has gained attention as a result of the FIR, and the legal procedure has begun to look into the subject more.
