According to The Oakland Press, further charges included second-degree criminal sexual conduct and lawbreaking homicide. Morris received a life sentence without the possibility of bail on Thursday, November 10. The defendant was found guilty by the jury after less than an hour of discussion.
Who is Jeffrey Bernard Morris?
Morris, a homeless guy and convicted sex offender was detained in connection with the 33-year-old Susie Zhao’s killing. Zhao was a professional poker player from Oakland County whose burned body was found on July 13 in a rural parking lot in Michigan.
How did Morris kill Zhao?
According to prosecutors, Morris met Zhao in a motel where she frequently stayed in Waterford Township and then they carried out what has been called a brutal sexual fantasy involving bondage, according to the New York Post. The victim’s genital organs were harmed during a severe rape, according to the evidence. While still alive, she was tied up with zip ties, poured in gasoline, and set on fire.
Zhao’s body was said to have been so badly burned that when two men first discovered it, they believed it to be a Halloween joke or a burned mannequin. Police used phone data on August 4, 2020, to link him to the spot where Zhao’s body was discovered. Charges against Morris
Morris was added to the Michigan sex offender register after his 1989 conviction for third-degree criminal sexual conduct committed under duress.
