Janata Dal MP Prajwal Revanna, who is the grandson of former prime minister and JD(secular) leader HD Deve Gowda, left the country and fled to Frankfurt, Germany after the Karnataka government decided to set up a special investigation team to look into the obscene videos.
The videos went viral on social media just two days before the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April 26. The JD(S) held an emergency press conference at 11 am at the headquarters of the party. The decision to set up a special investigation team, announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday, was in response to obscene video clips and s*xual violence against women circulating in the Hassan area.

Poornachandra Tejaswi MG, who is an election representative of both the JD(S) and the BJP filed the complaint. As per the complaint filed, Naveen Gowda and others circulated the alleged videos with the intention of defaming Prajwal Revanna.
A 47-year-old house help from the Revanna family has also filed a complaint against Prajwal and his father, HD Revanna, accusing them of s*xual assault.
33-year-old Prajwal Revanna was born on 5 August 1990 in Bangalore. He is 5ft 10in tall. Prajwal Revanna is the son of minister H.D Revanna and grandson of Deve Gowda. His mother Bhavani is also a well-known politician. Prajwal’s brother Sauraj Revanna is a physician and politician.

In 2015, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) selected his as one of ten promising young Indian politicians to take part in a program designed to introduce them to the workings of the British government. He followed the example of serving the public, following in the footsteps of his family members who were actively involved in politics.
In 2014, Prajwal Revanna played a prominent role in his grandfather HD Deve Gowda’s campaign, during Hassan district elections. His efforts contributed to the success of the campaign. The following year, in 2015, he officially became a member of the Janata Dal (Secular). Prajwal’s commitment to politics continued to grow, as evidenced by his active participation in the 2018 state assembly elections, where he travelled extensively across Karnataka and contributed to the campaign activities of the Janata Dal (Secular).
His hard work and dedication paid off in the 2019 general elections where he contested and won the Hassan Lok Sabha seat defeating BJP candidate A. Manju by 1,42,123 votes.
