Isabelle St. Cyr has always wished to participate in pageants for beauty. “It’s something I’ve been interested in since I was a little kid,” she told the media. “’I’ve always wanted to do pageants, but never got the opportunity because I was trans.”

After the first transgender woman participated in a Miss Universe organization contest in 2012, Isabelle St. Cyr 24, said she was motivated to enter the Miss Maine competition.

“I’m really excited to be the voice for trans people in our state,” St. Cyr said.

Growing up in Howland, Maine, St. Cyr studied jazz and tap dancing before committing herself fully to cheerleading, which at the time was the only coed sport available to her. St. Cyr taught people how to apply makeup as a cosmetic artist for MAC Cosmetics after graduating from high school. The height of the 24 year old transgender model isn’t known.

“I really fell in love with it,” she said. “Since I was always on a team of all girls, it was really my safe space to be around other women … it really made me feel included.”

Isabelle St. Cyr, a 24-year-old native of Howland, Maine, born a biological male, will become the first openly transgender woman to compete in the Miss Maine beauty competition on 10-11 May, 2025 in Portland.

While growing up dancing and cheerleading prepared St. Cyr to be onstage and in front of a crowd and when she turned 18, St. Cyr gave friends and family her new name and pronouns, then began her medical transition at 20. She lives in Monson and owns a farm.

At 22, she returned to rural Maine, opening Blossom Farmstand with her partner whose name isn’t known, cultivating fruit and raising animals. While she has a sister, the names of her parents and family members aren’t known.

“I would just help women build a daily routine for themselves in the morning, to help them feel more confident and more beautiful,” she said. “Working for them really helped me find myself as a trans woman.”

St. Cyr claimed she has experienced a lot of “backlashes” from individuals in her small town, despite her efforts to “remain positive.” She claimed that St. Cyr has been the target of beer cans and name-calling.

According to Isabelle there is a lot of positivity when you’re going to represent yourself as a trans woman publicly, but there’s also that other side, where you have to deal with a lot of discrimination.

St. Cyr said she has been attending etiquette classes, doing mock interviews with friends, and shopping for gowns and swimwear interview gear in order to get ready for the pageant in early May. Above all, though, she has been rewatching the Miss Universe contest.

In Monson, Maine, at the age of 22, St. Cyr established a farm with pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, and ducks.
