In a private hospital in Gurugram, Haryana, cricket player Simi Singh from Ireland is awaiting a liver transplant.

Arriving from Ireland in June of this year, the 37-year-old all-round player Simi Singh is presently in the intensive care unit of the private clinic. Simi experienced a “strange fever” when visiting Ireland about six months ago. Dublin’s medical staff was unable to identify the underlying cause of the illness, so they declined to provide medication.

His family made the decision to send him to India for treatment since his condition was getting worse. “The process was getting delayed and Simi’s health was deteriorating, so we decided to get him treated in India for ‘better medical attention’,” Simi’s father-in-law Parvinder Singh told.

Simi Singh’s heath update

Simi Singh was initially treated for tuberculosis after being admitted to PGI in Chandigarh, but the medication had little impact. After that, Simi was sent to a private facility, where it was determined he was TB-free.

The medical personnel advised the cricket player to finish the course of therapy, even though his fever continued to rise and he eventually experienced severe jaundice.

Simi was sent back to PGI once more, this time with the diagnosis of acute liver failure and the recommendation to seek treatment in Gurugram, where he is currently awaiting a liver transplant. Agamdeep Kaur, Simi’s spouse, allegedly consented to donate a portion of her liver.

“Thankfully, Simi’s blood group is AB+ which means he is a universal receiver. The doctors say that matching with his wife won’t be a problem. The transplant is likely to be performed very soon, “a family member stated.
