According to a government order signed by Telangana Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, Ravi, who is currently the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), took on the position of DGP, Head of Police Force (HoPF), in Telangana with immediate effect until further orders.
Anjani Kumar, the DGP of Telangana, was suspended by the Election Commission due to alleged MCC breaches that occurred during the state’s ongoing vote-counting procedure.
For those who are unaware, according to sources, during the vote count in Hyderabad, the DGP visited the home of Anumula Revanth Reddy, the state Congress president and a candidate, and gave him a flower bouquet as Congress is winning the elections and Revanth is a potential chief minister candidate. He was accompanied by state police nodal officer Sanjay Jain and nodal officer for expenditure Mahesh Bhagwat.

Who is Ravi Gupta?
Ravi Gupta is an Indian IAS officer. He has been in the news because he was recently appointed him as Telangana’s Director General of Police.
In 1987, he graduated from IIT Kanpur with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Later, in 1989, he completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the same institute.
From 1989 to 1990, Ravi Gupta worked as a mechanical engineer (IRSME) with the Indian Railway Service, marking the beginning of his career. He later became an IPS officer of the 1990 batch after passing the UPSC exam. In 1990, he was first given the Andhra Pradesh Cadre.
He then served as the West Godavari and Nalgonda district superintendent of police, as well as the Warangal and Eluru range deputy inspector general of police.
Later, Ravi Gupta held positions as Additional Secretary to the Government Home Department of the A.P. Secretariat and Joint Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad. He was assigned to the A.P. Special Police Battalions as Inspector General of Police upon his appointment to the IGP.
He now holds the position of Full Additional Charge (FAC) as Director-General of Police (Head of Police Force). His DOB and family details aren’t known.
