The Home Department formally declared on Wednesday that B Radhika, a senior IPS officer, has been granted permission to voluntary retirement from service (VRS).

The State Government’s formal notification, which was released on Wednesday, verified her eligibility for the voluntary retirement that she had decided to pursue on her own. She fulfilled the requirements for voluntary retirement from government employment after reaching the age of 50 and completing 30 years of qualifying service.
The state government also granted B Radhika’s plea for voluntary retirement, waiving the required three-month notice period as an act of goodwill. It is noteworthy that she took this extraordinary step in order to fulfill her parental care obligations.
The notification outlined the details, stating,
B. Radhika, IPS at present Chairman, Police Recruitment Board, with the additional charge of Director, S.F.S.L, Odisha is allowed to retire voluntarily from the Indian Police Service under Sub-Rule (2) of Rule 16 of AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958 w.e.f. 01.02.2024( F.N.), She will be entitled to all retirement benefits as per rule under AIS (DCRB) Rule.

Who is B Radhika?
B Radhika is a distinguished Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. She has been in the news because she took voluntary retirement from service (VRS) to take care of her parents. Details about her husband and full name aren’t known.
She joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1989 and started her career in the Odisha cadre. With a career spanning over three decades, she held the crucial position of Chairperson of the State Police Recruitment Board upon her return from Central Deputation.
Her outstanding work also included an additional role as the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) Director for Odisha. In addition to being Director of S.F.S.L., B Radhika also holds the position of Chairman of the Police Recruitment Board.
Before taking a VRS, she was also in the race to become the next DGP of Odisha.
