According to sources, the DGP took a bouquet of flowers and paid a visit to the home of Anumula Revanth Reddy, the state Congress president and a contender, along with state police nodal officers Sanjay Jain and Mahesh Bhagwat.
However, his visit stirred controversy because the choice to meet with a major official from one of the 16 political parties and a contending candidate among the 2,290 candidates during the election process was seen as a sign of possible prejudice and a desire to curry favor.
