Indian racer Akshay Gupta has joined Mertens Motorsport for Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie 2024. The racer is aiming for victory on the world’s toughest racetrack.

Gupta will face the challenge of driving the Hyundai i30N on one of the world’s most dangerous racetracks. He will drive the Hyundai i30N (car number 492) for Mertens Motorsport this season.

The German endurance series, which was formerly known as the VLN and is held annually at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, is celebrating its 47th season in 2024 as the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS).

With its foundation in the 1970s, the NLS is recognised as one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious endurance racing championships. The season is scheduled to start on April 6 and end on November 16.

Meanwhile, Gupta expressed his delight at joining Mertens Motorsport, stating that Racing at the Nurburgring circuit has always been his “dream,” and it used to be in the racer’s “laptop wallpaper for 15 years.”

He further said:

The experience gained last year taught us a lot about the track, level of competition, cars, and different conditions.”

Who is Akshay Gupta?

Akshay Gupta is a 31-year-old a racer from Ahmedabad, India is a racer and a tech founder. He is preparing to participate as the single Indian driver in the famous Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie 2024 after signing a contract with Mertens Motorsport.

Gupta had surgery on both hands after being injured while racing a BMW with Adrenalin Motorsport last year. Despite his continuous recuperation, his desire to race has brought him back to the track, where he is actively engaging in pre-season testing.

The racer has officially signed a contract with Mertens Motorsport for the highly anticipated Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) season of 2024, which will be held on the German circuit.

With his signing, Indian motorsport will have achieved a major milestone as Akshay will be the only racer in the nation competing against nearly 300 drivers and 117 cars.
