Who is Parvej Khan?
Parvej Khan is a 19-year-old track athlete who was born in Chahalka, a village 50 kilometres south of New Delhi and in the Mewat district of Haryana.
A look at Parvej Khan’s career so far
At the age of thirteen, he set off for New Delhi, motivated by a desire for greater prospects after experiencing early success in local races. His motivation came from the prospect of first-rate training facilities and expert instruction at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Following a year of intense training in Delhi, Khan’s pursuit of greatness brought him to the Sports Authority Of India (SAI) in Bhopal, where instructor Anupama Srivastava helped him refine his abilities. After winning the gold medal in the 800m in the U-16 nationals in Mangalgiri the year before, he demonstrated his dedication by placing third at the U-18 Khelo India Games in 2020.
Khan’s perseverance paid off in 2021 when he won the 1500m in the Open National Championships in Warrangal, achieving a noteworthy first in his nascent career. Then, his target was Colorado, USA’s Olympic Training Institute. He took advantage of the chance to play for a collegiate team in the United States, starting a new chapter in his quest for international sporting glory.
