Who is Hirsh Vardhan Singh US Presidential candidate 2024, biography, age, education, family, nationality, ethnicity

On July 28, Hirsh Vardhan Singh, an Indian-American engineer, declared his candidature for the Republican Party presidential nomination in 2024. He is the third person of Indian ancestry to run for president of the United States in 2024.

Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy, both members of the same party, are the other two candidates from the community.

Singh is presenting himself as a “lifelong Republican” and a fervent supporter of the “America First” conservative philosophy in light of his prior unsuccessful attempts to get nominations for various positions.

Who Is Hirsh Vardhan Singh?

The 38-year-old, Hirsh Vardhan Singh, was born to Indian immigrants. He has an engineering bachelor’s degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has experience working as an engineer and for the federal government and is referred to as a “Magnet for Conservatives, Libertarians, Indian-, Filipino-, Hispanic-, and Black-American voters.” He does not, however, currently enjoy the same level of national reputation as other Republican candidates and receives little media coverage.

The Only Pureblood Candidate

Due to Singh’s refusal to get COVID-19 vaccines and claim that he is the “only pureblood candidate,” his candidature has drawn attention. In addition to calling former President Donald Trump “the greatest President of my lifetime,” he has been compared to “Trump on steroids” and stressed that “America needs more.”

His statement coincides with a broader pattern of increased political aspirations among Indian Americans. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently referred to Indian-origin Americans in Congress as the ‘Samosa Caucus’.

Despite Singh’s support for Trump’s conservative principles, winning the Republican nomination will be difficult.

Hirsh Vardhan Singh’s Standing Among Voters

In terms of support among Republican voters as of July 2023, Trump is in the lead with about 52% of the vote, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 15% and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy with 6.8%. Singh is thought of as a long shot.

The official selection of the party’s next presidential nominee will be made at the Republican National Convention. It is expected to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15 to July 18, 2024. The struggle for the nomination is heightened by Trump’s participation in the contest as a prominent competitor.

It is unclear how much support Republican Indian-origin candidates like Singh will be able to obtain given the Democratic Party’s overwhelming support among Indian American voters. The dynamics of the 2024 presidential election will likely be influenced by Singh’s candidature as well as the wider Republican nomination contest.
