Daksh Chaudhary is a self-proclaimed ‘Gau Rakshak’ who is currently embroiled in a scandal after a video of him defacing two signboards which had the names of Akbar and Babar in New Delhi

Daksh and his associates reportedly carried out several acts of vandalism, including urinating on various street signs across Delhi.

Daksh Chaudhary is an Indian man who calls himself a Hindu Raksha Dal official and a staunch ‘Gau Rakshak.’. He has several of his pictures going viral on social media showing him with weapons and sometimes alongside BJP leaders. Chaudhary is often associated with Hindu Raksha Dal, which is a radical organization renowned for their aggressive stance on Hindu nationalism.

The group has previously carried out various protests and violent incidents, including attacks on individuals against right-wing ideologies. Chaudhary is also a self-identified Gau Rakshak (cow protector), who actively supports and participates in cow protection campaigns.

Daksh Chaudhary embroiled in road signboards defacing incident

Daksh Chaudhary and two other associates were recently involved in an act of vandalism, defacing several road signboards across Delhi. The group defaced signboards on Humayun Road and Akbar Road in Lutyens’ Delhi using black spray paint along with urinating on the sign boards. The group then filmed the act and raised all kinds of slogans alongside engaging in kicking, spitting, and spraying paint on the signs.

Daksh and his associates also chanted against Mughal rulers and praised historical Hindu figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji and Maharana Pratap as they plastered their posters on the boards after urinating on them and then cleaning them with milk in the aftermath of Chhaava movie. In response to the incident, NDMC officials have confirmed that they have cleaned the defaced signs.

Other similar incidents

Chaudhary has previously been arrested for similar incidents inciting communal hatred. He has previously engaged in road sign vandalism in the past as well, with groups like the Hindu Sena. He did this with the group wile demanding renaming of roads after Hindu leaders. Daksh also entered a mosque with his shoes on in the past and abused worshippers, inciting communal tension. His repeated involvement in such activities have raised various concerns regarding rising extremist activities in public spaces across the country.

Kanhaiya Kumar slap incident

Last year, Daksh Chaudhary slapped Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, who was contesting the North East Delhi seat during his campaign. Daksh seemingly pretended to put a garland on him before suddenly slapping him and throwing ink at him. Kanhaiya was competing against BJP candidate and incumbent MP Manoj Tiwari, which sparked rumors of his involvement. The attackers captured the whole incident on video, which quickly went viral after they later released it and took responsibility. The attackers even went on to state that it was a pre-planned act to “teach him a lesson.”
