“Will mend his ideas, beat him to coma,” a student can be heard stating inside the film. The victim’s complaint states that the event happened on November 1 at the ICFAI Business School in Shankarpalli.ย
The police have charged the accused with ragging under IPC sections 307, which is an attempt at murder. Along with sections 323, 450, and 506 for criminal intimidation after a case was launched yesterday in response to the victim’s complaint. The accused has been placed on administrative leave by the college. The institute’s administrators have come under scrutiny for their inaction.
They pushed and mistreated the student, according to the police report, which a news agency has obtained a copy of. The report states that they “punched him on the face, slapped him, kicked him on the abdominal areas, touched his genitals, and forced him to eat certain chemicals and powders.” Reva, a third-year BBA student at IBS Hyderabad, even made an attempt to put his genetics in his mouth.
With the motto “beat him till he dies,” they also tried to tear his clothes, stripped him, and beat him one by one. His video and pictures were extensively circulated among college student organisations, and he was suddenly the target of ridicule. He has bruises all over his face, his bones hurt, and his eyes and nose are swollen.
“He claimed that his tormentors had even threatened to beat him once they caught him leaving the school and would continue to torture him till they wish. Meanwhile, he lost his sense of humility, had suicidal thoughts because of the severe trauma, and hasn’t slept well for the previous three nights and can’t continue to suffer.โ
He said that he is in the first semester of his law degree programme and that watching his parents sob for him is painful. So he asked that the requisite steps be taken. Thus, they launged FIR “added the report.
Social Media Response Over The Incident
Several social media users have criticised the college in the meanwhile. โWhy not hold #ICFAI accountable as well? The management needs to take something because these are their students. The management has taken absolutely no action,โ one user tweeted.
Police Intervention In The Case
Police in Andhra Pradesh detained four engineering students from a private institution for allegedly beating and abusing a fellow student inside a hostel in a situation identical to this one. The event was revealed as a result of a viral video showing several kids beating the victim with sticks while he whimpers in agony and begs them to stop.
The video shows the accused continuing to abuse the student while requiring him to remove his t-shirt. As per the reports, Ankit was burned and beaten by the four accused because of his friendship with a female student. Krishna Kumar, the circle inspector at Bhimavaram II Town Police Station, reported that the four had been detained, produced before a local court, and then taken into judicial custody.
