23-year-old Pratibha Ranta was born on December 17, 2000 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh to Rajesh Ranta and his wife Sandishna Ranta. Her elder sister is Abha Ranta but the name of her younger brother is not known. Pratibha is 5ft 5in tall and 52 kg in weight.
She attended Convent of Jesus & Mary School and graduated from Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management in Mumbai with a degree in filmmaking.

Pratibha Ranta began her career as a dancer and theatre performer in Shimla before relocating to Mumbai to pursue her acting and modelling dreams.

Pratibha Ranta played Shama in the recently released historical drama. Shama is the daughter of courtesan Sanjeeda Sheikh. Shama is eager to become a courtesan in Heeramandi, but her mother opposes her plans. The character of Sanjeeda even makes an effort to hide her youth from Mallikajaan, the house matron (Manisha Koirala).
In an interview Ranta said, “I was able to see another version of myself through her because, at times, you experience things through your characters, that you may not experience in real life.”
After concluding Laapata Ladies, Pratibha disclosed that she received Heeramandi. She hopes to play a lead in an SLB project in the near future. Within a span of just two months, Pratibha has demonstrated her might as a rebel courtesan in Heeramandi, having gone from being a small-town girl in Laapta Ladies.
