Asish was with his 18-month-old son at the playground when Karavanibozak who is 48 approached him. The situation unfolded unexpectedly by causing concern and leading to Karavanibozak surrendering to authorities.

Asish Prashar revealed that he was wearing a keffiyeh, a headscarf, and Karavanibozak, thinking he was Palestinian, asked, “Do you support Hamas? Do you know they are terrorists?”

Prashar mentioned the keffiyeh was a gift from a Muslim coworker. Karavanibozak then accused “his people” of burning babies in the oven and said, “I hope someone burns your baby in an oven.”

When Asish Prashar tried to record the hateful rant on his phone, Hadasa Karavanibozak got angry and walked aggressively toward him by telling him and his son to leave. In a video that has gained over a million views, Karavanibozak can be seen holding coffee and a phone, approaching Prashar and throwing both at him.

Prashar, who shared the video on his Instagram, mentioned that although the incident was distressing, he and his son were thankfully unharmed.

On Tuesday, November 21, New York police charged Hadasa Karavanibozak, an American Jewish woman with multiple offenses including hate crime assault, and harassment. She was accused of making anti-Palestine comments and throwing hot coffee at a man named Asish Prashar.

Asish Prashar shared with the media that Hadasa Karavanibozak’s arrest came about with the support of the community. After the video gained attention, posters of the attacker were scattered around the neighborhood in an effort to encourage her to leave.

Karavanibozak, a nanny residing in Grand Army Plaza, surrendered after her entire block was covered with fliers. As Asish Prashar explained, the community played a significant role, sharing the incident not only on social media but also through posters posted by people, including those caring for his son.

These posters could be seen on every street corner, contributing to the widespread awareness of the situation.

Asish Prashar informed the media that Hadasa Karavanibozak, who lived close to the playground where the incident occurred, was seen at Whole Foods over the weekend. He expressed sadness that his son experienced such hate and intolerance.
