A Kerala court sentenced age 24-year-old SS Greeshma to death on Monday for slowly poisoning her male companion to death in 2022 after luring him to her house under false pretences of s*xual intimacy
The request by SS Greeshma for a lighter sentence was denied by the court in Neyyattinkara, which described her deed as “a cold-blooded murder.” Judge A M Basheer of the additional district sessions court also gave her uncle Nirmalakumaran Nair a three-year prison sentence for assisting her in destroying the evidence. Sindhu, her mother, was found not guilty.
The victim, Sharon Raj, was 23 years old and from Parassala in the Thiruvananthapuram district. On October 14, 2022, SS Greeshma gave him poison mixed with herbal medicine at her home, and he passed away 11 days later while receiving treatment in a medical college’s intensive care unit.

According to the 586-page verdict, the woman committed the crime because he refused to break up with her when her parents forced her to marry someone else.
Greeshma had argued for mercy by pointing to her academic success, her clean record, and the fact that she is the only daughter of her parents. Nonetheless, the court ruled that the seriousness of the offense committed outweighed her age.
The court noted that the defendant had a criminal history since she had tried to kill the young man by feeding him “suspicious juice” earlier and that she had planned to carry out the crime in stages.

SS Greeshma (24), the first accused, and her uncle, Nirmalakumaran Nair, were both found guilty by the court on Friday and Greeshma was found guilty under sections 302, 328, 364 and 201. Greeshma’s mother, the second accused meanwhile was acquitted due to lack of evidence. Greeshma’s mother, Sindhu, 56 and her uncle, Nirmalakumaran Nair, 60, were accused of destroying evidence to shield Greeshma who is a Hindu by religion, hailing from Tamil Nadu.
Age 23 Greeshma studied literature at a private college in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district.
How SS Greshma and Sharon Raj met each other?
Since 2021, SS Greeshma, who lives in Kanyakumari, and Sharon, who was a native of Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram, had been close as they went to the same college. At the time, Sharon was in the latter year of his BSc Radiology study, and she was working toward a master’s degree in English.
Before issues started to surface, their friendship developed into a partnership that lasted for more than a year.
Greeshma’s family arranged for her to marry a military officer in Tamil Nadu in March 2022, and she accepted the match while keeping up her contact with Sharon. As the marriage was approaching soon, Greeshma decided to eliminate Sharon from her life permanently and thus planned his murder On multiple occasions, Greeshma tried to poison Sharon by lacing his water and drinks with poison, but all attempts failed ad on October 14, 2022, just a month before her marriage, Greeshma invited Sharon home and served him a medicinal ayurvedic drink, in which she had mixed some herbicide
After leaving his girlfriend’s home, Sharon vomited several times and was hospitalized that night and n October 25, 2022, Sharon (23) died due to multiple organ failure. After a case was lodged by Sharon’s family, Greeshma, her mother and uncle were all arrested and during interrogation, Greeshma told the police: “I wanted to break off relationship with Sharon & I had asked him to get rid of visuals of our intimate moments. I feared Sharon would share the visuals with my husband & this is why I planned his murder”
In January 2025, a sessions court at Neyyattinkara in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district found Greeshma guilty of this murder and awarded her death sentence, terming this as “rarest of rare case” and while mother Sindhu was acquitted, uncle Nirmal Kumar was awarded three years rigorous imprisonment for his role as accomplice
