Gervis was crossing a sports oval in Albion Park, heading to pick up dinner, when he tragically fell off his e-bike. Hearing sirens, Emily King, his mother, asked Gervis’s older brother to call his mobile. “He called and a police officer picked up the phone,” recalled King.

An unexpected tragedy hit the community with the loss of Gervis Wililo
“They told us that his heart had stopped beating. They were trying to revive him.” Gervis was rushed to Wollongong Hospital, where paramedics tirelessly attempted to revive him, but sadly, their efforts were in vain.
King described the tragic incident as “horrifying, like your worst nightmare and everything just froze.” Gervis, who suffered from epilepsy, might have experienced a seizure at the time of the accident, although the family is still awaiting autopsy results for confirmation.
The community remembers Gervis Wililo
Gervis’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the tightly-knit community. “There was no sign of anything. So everyone was shocked,” said a stunned King, commenting on the sudden nature of her son’s death.
Members of Gervis’s rugby league team, the Under-14 Shellharbour Stingrays, offered their own tribute to their late teammate, entering the field holding Gervis’s jersey. In a moving demonstration of respect, they performed a haka in his honor after the game.
His classmates from Albion Park High also joined in honoring Gervis, leaving flowers and balloons colored with his favorite team, the Rabbitohs, at the sports oval.

An online fundraiser has been set up to support Gervis’s grieving family during this difficult time. His mother fondly remembers him as “a kind boy, who always had time for people and went out of his way to make people feel valued and loved. He was just a beautiful boy, my beautiful boy,” King said.
