Despite the tragic circumstances, a ray of hope emerged as Gill’s baby girl was delivered successfully via an emergency C-section following the incident. The newborn, now named Zailey, is in critical condition and under close medical supervision.
A brutal attack on a sunny morning
The grim event unfolded outside a McDonald’s located in the 300 block of 37th Street, Southeast DC, at around 11 a.m. on Thursday. Gill and her husband were in their parked car when another vehicle pulled up and two armed individuals emerged. A hail of at least 14 bullets was unleashed onto Gill’s car, hitting both Samya Gill and her husband.
The surveillance camera caught the shooters fleeing the scene swiftly in their vehicle.
