How it happened
The incident happened when Florida fire and rescue officials called upon Mike’s expertise to help contain an alligator. The giant 10-foot long reptile was found in a school campus full of students, about to enter the school’s parking lot.
Dragich attempted to grab the alligator’s tail multiple times, while around 200 spectators cheered him on. The wild beast however broke free, and the 33-year-old had to use a catch pole to hook the gator’s neck. Upon doing this, the alligator started rolling and trying to get free.
However, Mike Dragich made a quick call and jumped onto its back with the catch pole still around the reptile’s neck. The other firefighters eventually helped him hold the gator down, following which the officials finally controlled the animal and took it away from the school.
“I felt like Batman”
Following the shocking incident, Mike Dragich revealed about his experience:
We get there. I walked through the gate. And boom. There it was just ready to go right there in the parking lot, and we just had to get the job done… I said it before, I felt like Batman… There are a lot of comments saying I look like Stone Cold walking up to this alligator.”
Dragich further added:
A lot of fighters will understand that when you go to the cage, you’re nervous but once that cage door closes, you gotta be focused and honestly that’s what I remembered from that night.”
