Uttarakhand Police and Haridwar Police announced on Tuesday that there was no desecration of the Quran in Haridwar following the social media demands of Ex-Muslim Sameer’s arrest.
They clarified that the YouTuber, who posted a video showing the burning and stomping of the Islamic holy book, has not been residing in Haridwar or Padli Gurjar village of Roorkee.

The statement came in response to widespread outrage over a video by a YouTuber known as Ex-Muslim Sameer, which depicted him burning pages from the Quran and disrespecting it.
The video went viral, leading to demands for action against the YouTuber, whom many believed lived in the state.
What Did Haridwar Police Say?
“In the referred case, Ex-Muslim Sameer has not been living in ‘Padli Gurjar’ for the past approximately three years, and there has been no incident of desecration of the holy Quran anywhere in the Haridwar district.
“Therefore, do not share the case without information; otherwise, legal action may be taken against you,” stated Haridwar Police in a post on X.

Similarly, Uttarakhand Police confirmed that no desecration of the Quran occurred in Haridwar or Padli Gurjar in Roorkee.
However, they have launched an investigation and urged people not to share any inflammatory videos.
“There has been no incident of desecration of the holy Quran anywhere in Haridwar, and Ex-Muslim Sameer is not living in ‘Padli Gurjar.’ The matter is under investigation. Strict legal action will be taken against those who post such videos,” the Uttarakhand Police stated in a post on X.
What Exactly Happened?
On Monday, social media was flooded with angry posts against Ex-Muslim Sameer after a video purportedly showed the YouTuber stomping on the Quran and burning its pages.
Users demanded strict action and the arrest of the YouTuber, trending the hashtag #ArrestExMuslimSameer, which had over 200,000 posts on X till the time of writing this piece.
About Ex-Muslim Sameer
The YouTuber, who Identifies himself as a former Muslim, has amassed over 208,000 subscribers on his channel.
He claims to have changed his name to Siddharth Chaturvedi and describes himself on Instagram as an “ex-Muslim,” “sanatani,” “humanist,” and “free thinker.” He claims to have converted from Islam to Hinduism after which he changed his name.

Chaturvedi is known for his inflammatory views on Islam, often using provocative and offensive imagery in his videos. In January, he published an e-book titled ‘5 Unanswered Questions About Islam From Quran.’
