Ex-cheerleader Kai DeBerry-Bostick was arrested and held without bond for driving through the Laurel Main Street Festival

After driving into a packed street fair and hitting a Maryland police officer with her car because she had to get to work, an entitled former college cheerleader and sorority girl named Kai DeBerry-Bostick is being charged with assault. The snobbish altercation was captured on bodycam footage.

Kai Deberry-Bostick, 28, was arrested after driving through crowds and tents set up for Laurel’s Main Street Festival.

Deberry-Bostick will remain in jail without bond after her first court appearance on Monday and her father told the judge that she had made a mistake, and she was in a panic trying to get to work while defense attorney said her car was blocked in due to the festival and said she had an “unfortunate reaction to the officer’s orders.”

On Saturday morning in Laurel, Kai DeBerry-Bostick, a 28-year-old Bowie State University alumnus and a member of the Zeta Delta sorority, pulled off the four-wheeled tantrum by tearing down police tape and driving into the packed event in defiance of the officer’s commands.

Kai DeBerry-Bostick declined the unnamed police officer’s offer to call a cab, stating that she worked in Virginia, and exited her vehicle despite the officer’s instructions.

“This cannot be moved,” the officer informs her. She says, “I have to, sir,” and then yells, “I have to go to work? What are you expecting me to do?

“You cannot get out,” the cop says. “I can’t help you with that. Please do not disturb this area.”

DeBerry-Bostick replies, “I might have to,” and tears off the yellow police tape that is obstructing the road. She then turns onto Main Street, where folks are mingling and booths are arranged along the street. The unaware motorist approaches a man with a pram within two feet.

“Cease! The police cries, “Stop your car!” while the street festival attendees can be heard yelling.

Video shows the former college student being shackled on the pavement after being ultimately dragged out of the vehicle. She was reportedly being kept at the local prison after being charged with assault, according to the police.

According to Laurel police, the officer was slightly wounded, but no one else was harmed.

Deberry-Bostick hit the officer with her car and briefly drove through a crowd of people before she was stopped and is facing multiple charges, including assault, resisting arrest, and reckless endangerment, according to police.

The officer suffered minor injuries but no other injuries were reported.

The Bowie State University website states that DeBerry-Bostick was an honuor student and a Bulldog cheerleader who graduated in 2021. Her sorority later gave her a shout-out after she was hired by a tax services company in Maryland.

“Quick action by Lauren Police,” the department wrote on the Facebook post. “Thanks to their rapid response, no festival-goers were harmed. However, during the incident one of our officers did sustain minor injuries after being struck by the vehicle.”
