Quenneville also understands that’s not nearly enough to appease a sizable portion of hockey fans who feel his career should have ended forever due to his admitted passivity during the Blackhawks affair.
Joel Quenneville is a Canadian American professional ice hockey coach who was born as Joel Norman Quenneville in Windsor, Ontario, on September 15, 1958 and is 6ft 1in tall.
Quenneville, who has French-Canadian and Franco-Ontarian ancestry, is married to Elizabeth, a Connecticut native he met while playing for the Hartford Whalers. Their three children, two daughters, Lily and Anna, and a son, Dylan live in Hinsdale, Illinois.

The couple got married in 1988 and family has traveled throughout the United States and Canada during Quenneville’s lengthy career through the NHL in various playing and coaching capacities. Joel Quenneville career
In the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, Quenneville was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs with the 21st overall pick.
He’s played for the Windsor Spitfires of the OHA, the Baltimore Skipjacks of the AHL, the Washington Capitals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Colorado Rockies, the New Jersey Devils, the Hartford Whalers, the New Brunswick Hawks of the AHL, and the St. John’s Maple Leafs of the AHL.
Quenneville has served as the head coach of the AHL’s Springfield Indians, the assistant coach of the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalanche, and a player/assistant coach at St. John’s. During the 1999–2000 season, he and the St. Louis Blues earned the Jack Adams Award.
While serving as the Avalanche’s assistant coach in 1996, Quenneville helped the team win the Stanley Cup. After Mike Keenan was fired, he then joined the Blues, where he took over as head coach halfway through the next season. He led St. Louis to seven straight playoff berths.
He coached his 750th game as a coach on March 25, 2007. As of the 2006–07 season, he was one of just seven active coaches to achieve 750 games.
In a 3–2 overtime victory over the Calgary Flames on October 26, 2007, Quenneville achieved his 400th coaching victory.
With his 783rd victory on January 14, 2016, he overtook Al Arbour as the second-greatest NHL coach of all time. He joined Scotty Bowman as the only two coaches with at least 800 victories on April 3, 2016, when he defeated the Boston Bruins 6–4.
