Harrison Butker, the kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs and three-time Super Bowl champion, stirred some controversy on May 11, 2024, when he gave the Benedictine College commencement speech.

However, a lot of people on the internet brought up the fact that Butker’s mother was a professional physicist. “I just wonder if his mom agrees,” a TikTok user said in a video, describing her alleged credentials as a physicist who holds degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology and Smith College.

Elizabeth Butker received her bachelor’s degree from women-only Smith College and her master’s degree in medial physics from Georgia Tech. Her kid went to Georgia Tech as well.
Elizabeth Butker works as a medical physicist at Atlanta’s Emory University in the Winship Department of Radiation Oncology and has been a there since 1988.
Elizabeth Butker followed in the footsteps of her father, James Keller, an Emory department employee. Butker’s husband is Harrison Butker Sr. After completing his studies at Emory University’s business school, Butker Sr works as a financial analyst at MDKeller, a company he co-founded. Charlotte is Elizabeth’s daughter.
Harrison Butker’s detractors seemed to believe that the Chiefs kicker was at conflict with his mother, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Before Super Bowl 54, Elizabeth Butker declared that she was “so proud” of her son’s accomplishments on the field and “the man he has become.”
In the Chiefs’ 2020 Mother’s Day homage, Harrison Butker thanked his mother with praise and expressed gratitude for all of her help over the years. He revealed that while growing up, his mother was his biggest supporter.

In his recent address, Harrison Butker refrained from outright criticising women’s access to higher education. It was, after all, his second speech in as many years before an assembled group of recent college graduates.
But many saw his remarks as demoralising to women with more education, and they wondered why he would encourage women to stay at home when his own mother managed to raise two kids while working in one of the hardest jobs there is.
