Who is Cooper Flagg?
Cooper Flagg is an American basketball player who attends the Montverde Academy in Florida. The 17-year-old was born on December 21, 2006 in Newport, Maine, U.S. and stands 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) tall.
A look at Cooper Flagg’s career so far
Cooper Flagg’s family’s basketball background has played a vital role for him in choosing the game. He is a consensus five-star prospect and one of the best players in the 2024 class, having committed to Duke.
He was born in Newport, Maine, where he attended Nokomis Regional High School. He became the first rookie to be named the Maine Gatorade Player of the Year, after averaging 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.7 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game.
Flagg transferred to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, towards the end of his first year of high school. Prior to his first year at Montverde, he competed in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) with the Florida Eagles, an Amateur Athletic Union team.
The youngster went on to play for Maine United in the EYBL, where he averaged 25.4 points, 13 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 6.9 blocks in seven Peach Jam games. He was chosen to participate in the 2024 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game. He won the Gatorade National Player of the Year award on March 27, 2024.
On November 8, 2023, Flagg signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Blue Devils, during the early signing period.
