After carrying out the murders, Tanwar attempted to mislead police officials by fabricating a story but eventually confessed.
Arjun Tanwar bio
Arjun Tanwar is a resident of Neb Sarai in South Delhi and is currently pursuing a BA in political science from a college affiliated with Delhi University. He is currently just 20 years old, and he is a trained boxer who previously represented Delhi in boxing. Arjun has also won a silver medal in the sport. He obtained his early education from the Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan.
Ex-army man Rajesh Kumar (51), his wife Komal (46) and their daughter Kavita (23) were found dead at their house in Deoli village of South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area on Wednesday morning with son Arjun murdering them due to his bad relations with his parents with him being upset for them preferring his sister over him.

Arjun Tanwar arrested for murdering his family
A DU student named Arjun Tanwar recently got arrested for murdering his entire family. Arjun murdered his father, a retired Armyman, his mother, and his sister at their residence, located in South Delhi. The young man allegedly carried out the murders early in the morning, on Wednesday, which was also the day of his parent’s wedding anniversary. After carrying out the gruesome act, Arjun tried to mislead the cops by going out for his usual morning run. Upon his return, he eventually raised the alarm that his family had been murdered.
Reason behind the murders
Despite his efforts, police officials eventually managed to get a confession out of Arjun Tanwar. And according to the accused, Arjun believed that his father, identified as Rajesh Kumar (51), had the intention to transfer ownership of his property to his older sister, Kavita (23). Alongside this, his father disapproved of his boxing career and had previously humiliated him publicly. All of these reasons fuelled Arjun’s anger and resentment towards his family.
Official police reports
A team led by inspector (AATS) Umesh Kumar and working under ACP Abhinendra Jain reportedly cracked the case of the murders. According to official reports, the police received a call from Arjun at around 6:53am, claiming that his parents were murdered. Upon their arrival, they discovered that victims sustained multiple stab wounds with their throats slit.
Police first discovered Rajesh’s body on the first floor, while they found his 46-year-old wife Komal’s and daughter Kavita’s bodies on the ground floor. Both bodies were on separate beds. According to neighbours who witnessed the scene, they saw clothing placed around the victims’ necks used to control blood flow. Another team under DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan scanned multiple CCTV footages and reported finding no signs of forced entry. Joint CP (south) Sanjay Kumar Jain stated:
When we questioned Arjun, he started giving different answers, and there were multiple contradictions.”
He further added that Arjun Tanwar subsequently confessed to committing the crime.
Police manage to get a confession out of Arjun
As police officials carried out an interrogation, Arjun Tanwar eventually confessed to his crime. The 20-year-old confessed to devising the plot to eliminate his family members over a week ago. In order to avoid suspicion, he went out of the house at 5:30 am for his daily morning run like any other day. After returning, he rushed to his gym and informed the gym owner that his parents had been murdered. Arjun then alerted his neighbours and relatives about the incident.
While confessing about his crime, he revealed how he first killed his sister and then his father. He then killed his mother when returned from the bathroom. While his sister and mother showed resistance, he killed his father in his sleep. Arjun used his father’s Army knife to carry out the murders.
According to the police:
He told us that he opted for slitting their throats as he knew it would prevent them from screaming. He was so enraged with his father that he stabbed him in the head.”
Arjun Tanwar revealed that his father regularly scolded him over his daily routine and studies. Moreover, he was angry at his parents because they supported his sister, who was pursuing a master’s degree. He also suspected his father of making plans to give their property to his sister.
