Who is Anoop Kumar?
44 year old Anoop aka Anup Kumar is an actor, doctor, human rights activist, and media person. He has been in the news because he was recently arrested for being involved in illegal alcohol production.
He was born and brought up in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur, Kerala. He did his studies at a reputed medical college and went on to become a doctor.
Later, he also tried his hand at acting in the Malayalam film industry. Apart from this, he also identified himself as a human rights activist and a media personality.
What is his involvement in an illegal alcohol case?
Based on information obtained by the Excise Department, a restaurant close to Gokulam School in Peringottukara was operating an illicit alcohol production factory. This information prompted undercover excise agents to enter the building disguised as job searchers, where they painstakingly acquired information on all operations carried out.
During their covert investigation, the excise authorities discovered and subsequently confiscated 1,070 liters of illicit liquor concealed within bottles and cans. In addition to seizing the illicit alcohol, the raid also produced the arrest of supplies used in manufacturing as well as two cars associated with the delivery of the stolen bottles.
The person who rented the restaurant space and used it as a cover for the illegal alcohol production facility turned out to be Dr. Anoop Kumar. The raw spirit that was needed in the manufacture was supplied from Bengaluru. The illegal alcohol was offered for an unusual price; half a bottle was worth money for one liter.
Moreover, the enterprise fulfilled specific demands from customers by transporting the illicit alcohol to designated sites at their request.
