Divya Deshmukh was born in 2005 on 9 December in Maharashtra. Her father’s name is Dr. Jitendra Deshmukh and her mother is Dr. Namrata Deshmukh. She attended Bhavans Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Nagpur. Both her parents are gynecologists. Her sibling Arya Deshmukh is studying law.

Divya Deshmukh career
Divya Deshmukh is an Indian Woman Chess Grandmaster. She began her chess coaching at the age of six under the guidance of Rahul Joshi. At present, RB Ramesh is mentoring Divya. She switched to chess from badminton because of her height. Her first achievement in chess came at the age of five at a local competition.
Divya’s father played chess as a hobby so she began playing the sport initially with him. She won a bronze medal at the 2022 Chess Olympiad. Divya was a part of FIDE Online Chess Olympiad’s winning team in 2020.
In 2022, she became the first senior national women’s chess champion hailing from Nagpur. Maharashtra Chess Association presented her with a cash reward worth INR 50,000 after winning the MPL 47th National Women’s Championship.
In 2023, she was ranked seventh among women chess players in India. She won the 2023 Asian Women’s Chess Championship in Almaty. Divya’s idol chess player is Viswanathan Anand.
