The art director-turned-filmmaker Omung Kumar said in an interview with ToI that his favourite set he has ever made is Bigg Boss 18. He disclosed that his experiences living in cave hotels overseas, particularly in Turkey, served as the inspiration for this home.

In keeping with that, the show will feature a special appearance by renowned set designer Omung Kumar. The thrilling media round session, which opened the final week, featured a barrage of tough questions and aggressive grilling of all the competitors.
Online rumours state that shortly before the finale, Omung Kumar would enter the home for a lavish party with the other housemates. There are rumours of a midweek eviction on Wednesday, though, so the drama doesn’t stop there.
Art director and filmmaker Omung Kumar and his wife Vanitha have given the Bigg Boss 18 home a gorgeous makeover as interior designers for the set. ‘Time Ka Tandav,’ which translates to ‘taking the audience back to the cave and mediaeval times for a unique experience, is the idea behind this season’s set.
While Omung’s DOB isn’t known he is believed to be aged between 50-60 years and his height stands at 5 feet 10 inches with him born in Mumbai. He did his schooling from Mumbai Handique Girls College and comes from a non-film background.
His wife Vanita made her debut as a director with a short film “Ave Maria”, which threw light on the issue of child abuse in India. The two have been married for 31 years.
His parents were both actors from FTII and his father Vipin Kumar Bhandula was Punjabi, while his mother Sabah Vipin Kumar is Parsi. Omung studied commercial art at Bandra School of Arts where he met his wife Vanita and then he joined the advertising agency HTA as art director and worked with them for 12 years and also modelled for some of the brands he was working on, like Godrej and Ponds.

Omung Kumar career
Indian production designer and filmmaker Omung Kumar Bhandula is well-known for his Hindi filmmaking. In the 1990s, he hosted Ek Minute, one of Zee TV’s most well-known programs.
After trying his hand in the television world, he headed to Bollywood wherein he got Dil Hai Tumhara in 2002 wherein he worked as production designer and later he worked in some of the popular movies including Saawariya, Just Dance and Black as art director making people realise about his potentials in this domain. Some of his other movies include Ishq Vishk, Chameli, Masti, Fida, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Yuvvraaj and Krazzy 4, wherein he played the role of production designer and art director.
The 2014 biographical sports drama Mary Kom, which was based on the boxer of the same name, was his directorial debut. Priyanka Chopra played Kom in the movie, which was well received by critics and viewers alike.
Despite having a ₹150 million (US$1.8 million) budget, Mary Kom made ₹940 million (US$11 million) at the box office.
Among the many honours and accolades he and the movie got was the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
“Sarabjit Singh” was the subject of his second film, Sarbjit, a biography. At the box office, the movie was a critical and financial triumph. After that, he produced his third movie, Bhoomi, which was a critical and financial flop and marked Sanjay Dutt’s comeback.
