In a tragic turn of events, a class 10 student named Devraj Mochi who was stabbed last Friday by his classmate at a government school in Udaipur succumbed to his injuries on Monday
The 15-year-old victim, identified as Devraj Mochi, reportedly sustained critical injuries after being stabbed during a confrontation with his classmate named Ayan Shaikh.
After the tragic incident, Devraj Mochi, was rushed to MB hospital, however, his condition worsened by 3 p.m. on Monday, resulting in his demise.

After the doctors confirmed 15 year old Devraj Mochiโs death, a large number of authorities were deployed outside the hospital, anticipating possible unrest.
Devraj Mochi, a Dalit Hindu who was in the 10th grade at Government Higher Secondary School, Rang Niwas was attacked by Ayan Sheikh, the father of Jamil Sheikh, a resident of Diwan Shah Colony, Kishanpole, Udaipur.

What Exactly Happened?
Reportedly, the tragic stabbing took place during the post-lunch hours at a government school in the Bhatiyani Chauhatta area, when allegedly the two classmates, both 15 years old, got into a fight, leading to the fatal stabbing.

As per the media reports, on the day of the stabbing incident, violence erupted in the city, with several cars being set ablaze by an enraged mob, and stone-pelting incidents reported in various areas.
The tension in the city escalated because the students involved in the incident belonged to different communities.
Responding to the situation, district collector Arvind Poswal and Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal arranged a meeting with the hospital administrator on Monday afternoon.
Authorities intensified the security measures, including the construction of barricades outside the emergency ward of the hospital. In addition, the police also restricted access to the hospitalโs main gate.
What Did the Report Reveal?
Reportedly, earlier during the day, around 2 p.m., Devraj Mochiโs sister Suhani and a cousin visited him, tying a rakhi on his wrist with the district collectorโs approval, praying for his recovery.
To prevent the further violence, police personnel were stationed across the city, with an Internet shutdown, that was extended until 10 p.m. to curb the spread of rumors.

What Did the Authority Say?
Meanwhile, addressing the media, state minister Jawahar Singh Bedham urged the public to maintain peace and vowed that the government would seek the harshest punishment for the perpetrator.
In the aftermath of Devrajโs death, his family initially refused to allow an autopsy, demanding justice, compensation, and a government job for a family member.
A settlement was eventually reached, including financial assistance of Rs 51 lakh and a contractual job offer for one family member. The case will also proceed under the ST-SC Act.
