However, the landscape has evolved, with students now resorting to loans to finance their international education. Despite this shift, challenges confront those studying abroad, with reports emerging of unfortunate incidents leading to the loss of Indian students’ lives.

In one such tragic turn of events, a 20-year-old medical student from Andhra Pradesh lost his life in a waterfall accident in Kyrgyzstan.

The deceased student Identified as Dasari Chandu, who came from the Anakapalli district, died after becoming trapped in snow near a waterfall.

What Exactly Happened?

Following his exam, Chandu visited the waterfall on Sunday with other university students. While exploring with friends from Andhra Pradesh, he got caught in the snow and did not survive.

Chandu, originally from Madugula village in Anakapalli district, had traveled to Kyrgyzstan a year ago to pursue his dream of studying medicine. Sadly, his life and his aspirations were tragically cut short by this unforeseen accident.

Chandu’s grieving family, with his father Bhima Raju, a halwa vendor, has sought assistance from the Indian government to bring Chandu’s remains back home.

Anakapalli MP B. Venkata Satyavathi has appealed to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, calling for prompt intervention by Indian embassy officials in Kyrgyzstan to expedite the repatriation of Chandu’s body to India.

The parents of the deceased student found out about the distressing incident on Monday afternoon after they received a call from Kyrgyzstan. The full details about the incident aren’t out yet.

Though it wasn’t the first incident in Kyrgyzstan where an Indian student lost their life. Earlier, on June 2, 2023, Puja Kumari, a medical student from Bihar studying in Kyrgyzstan, passed away in Bishkek. She was a third-year MBBS student who died due to health complications.

In another news, 2 Indian students studying in the United States died instantly in a head-on collision near Lake Pleasant in Arizona, authorities reported. The victims, identified as 19-year-old Nivesh Mukka and 19-year-old Goutham Parsi, were originally from Telangana and were attending Arizona State University as international students.

The Peoria Police stated that the deadly crash happened at around 6:18 p.m. on April 20. Officers responded to the scene of the accident on Castle Hot Springs Road, located just north of State Route 74.
