A Chennai-based Swiggy food delivery executive who loved cricket was given the chance to realise his aspirations when he was hired as a net bowler by the Netherlands support team, according to the Times of India.
As a Swiggy food delivery representative in Chennai on Monday, Lokesh Kumar was conducting business as usual. A little more than 48 hours later, the 29-year-old is helping the underdogs in Alur prepare for the World Cup against spin while working with the Netherlands as a net bowler.

Who is Lokesh Kumar?
Can say, Lokesh Kumar used to be a delivery boy for Swiggy but he has now gotten some new roles. The Dutch team, which had posted a call for applicants on social media, hand-picked Lokesh, who has been employed in the food delivery business since 2018, as one of the four net bowlers on Tuesday.
Lokesh, a left-arm pacer-turned-chinaman, was chosen after the Netherlands management evaluated over 10,000 Indian bowlers who had submitted their entries by uploading footage to a smartphone application.
As reported by The Times of India, Lokesh said:
This is one of the most precious moments of my career. I am yet to even play in the TNCA third division league.”
Lokesh has already joined the Dutch joined the Dutch camp on Wednesday. As per what TOI stated quoting Lokesh, he spent four years playing in the fifth division, and for the current season, he has signed with Indian Oil (RO) S&RC, a fourth-division team.
The 29-year-old added that his work as a Swiggy excitive has aided his development as a cricket player in some way. Lokesh’s sole interest was cricket after graduating from college. But after 2018, when things did not go as planned, Lokesh accepted the delivery position at Swiggy.
