According to media reports, 22 year old Aman who was a cook at a guesthouse in Mukherjee Nagar confessed to the police that he was driven to commit the heinous act after enduring persistent teasing and derogatory remarks from local students. He claimed that the victim, along with others, had subjected him to ridicule.
In the viral footage, Aman can be seen rushing towards the woman, forcefully pushing her to the ground before viciously stabbing her multiple times with a knife that he had taken from a nearby vegetable vendor. Despite the intervention of a passerby, Aman continued his assault until another courageous individual managed to restrain him temporarily.
After committing the crime, he tried fleeing the crime scene. The prompt response by people prevented further harm to the victim, who fortunately escaped with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
