As a prominent participant in the Congress party, Jatav distinguishes herself by showcasing her abilities as a dynamic grassroots activist. She is a member of the Alwar District Council and holds an LLB degree. Age 25 Sanjana is a Dalit Hindu.

Sanjana Jatav, Congress candidate from Bharatpur in Lok Sabha elections 2024, was born on 1 May 1998 in the Bhusawar town of Bharatpur and has studied up to BA and LLB. Sanjana Jatav is married to Captain Singh, a resident of village Samunchi, Tehsil Kathumar, Alwar district who is currently posted as a Rajasthan Police Constable at Thanagaji Police Station.

Sanjana’s parental home Bhusawar and her in-laws’ Kathumar Thana falls in the Bharatpur parliamentary constituency. She is currently a member of the Alwar Zila Parishad and her father-in-law has also been a Sarpanch.

Sanjana Jatav received 7,082 postal ballots and 572,808 EVM votes, which accounted for an impressive 51.18% of the total 579,890 votes, according to the Election Commission. Jatav was given customary garlands by Congress activists after she was given the certificate of victory. Later, she was spotted rejoicing with her followers over their triumph.

Sanjana Jatav ran in the November 2023 assembly elections from the Kathumar seat in Alwar but she was defeated by BJP candidate Ramesh Khinchi by a narrow margin of 409 votes.

Since 1998, the Congress and BJP have alternated in Kathumar, a seat designated for Scheduled Caste (SC), with each party winning three times.

Jatav is married to policeman Kaptan Singh and is a mother to two. She graduated from Maharaja Surajmal Brij University in 1999.

Jatav, who represents the SC category of youth, has shown clarity and boldness on party platforms with her engaging oratory skills. Jatav’s involvement with Priyanka Gandhi’s “Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon” campaign has also considerably boosted her political career.

She bridges the gap between Congress’ female activists and rural women, reflecting the ethos of Priyanka’s campaign and appealing to grassroots demographics.

The Congress won eight seats in Rajasthan in the Lok Sabha Elections of 2024, while the BJP won fourteen. Moreover, one seat was secured by each of CPI(M), RLP, and BSP. The Congress Party emerged victorious in several constituencies, including those in Ganganagar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa, Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, and Barmer.
