Earlier, social media platforms, especially X/Twitter, TikTok, and Reddit, have been buzzing with a viral post, where a Syracuse football reporter claims she became the unexpected target of some sideline antics during the Orange’s thrilling 42-38 victory over the Miami Hurricanes.
While Syracuse celebrated improving to a 9-3 record, the Hurricanes’ mascot, Sebastian the Ibis, reportedly had his eyes on a different kind of victory.

Ashley Wenskoski, a sports anchor took to social media to call out Sebastian for hitting on her during the game at the Carrier Dome.
As per her bio on X, Ashley is a sports anchor and reporter at CNY Central. Additionally, she is also co-host of “Why Mets Pod.” She is the alumni of Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse.
Ashley joined the CNY Central sports team in August 2023 as the weekend sports anchor and sports multimedia journalist and joined the team full-time after interning with the sports department during her senior year of college.
She graduated magna cum laude from the SI Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in May 2023 with a bachelor’s in broadcast and digital journalism and dual minors in political science and sports management and grew up around the Orange her entire life, as her parents both graduated from Newhouse in 1991.
During her time at Syracuse, she had various internships and experiences that shaped her as a journalist as she was a news and sports anchor/reporter at Citrus TV as well as a studio show host for ACC Network. She also interned at SiriusXM NFL Radio, NBC Sports, and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
She is originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia and loves to travel, run, spend time with family and friends, and explore Central New York.
Wenskoski covers college football for CNY Central – a New York state based media company and Syracuse University’s football team is one of the outlet’s biggest assignments.
The reporter took to social media platform X/Twitter and wrote, “Sebastian the Ibis just kneeled down and asked for my number mid-drive.”
After witnessing the viral post, football enthusiasts quickly rallied to Wenskoski’s defense, using the opportunity to poke fun at Miami’s mascot and team.

Syracuse Orange vs Miami Hurricanes
Speaking about the game, the loss to Syracuse knocked Miami out of contention for the ACC Championship game, handing the spot to Clemson. Miami, now with two losses in three games after a recent defeat to Georgia Tech, is in danger of missing the College Football Playoff.
The game itself showcased an intriguing quarterback duel between Syracuse’s Kyle McCord and Miami’s Cam Ward. McCord shone brightly, completing 26 of 36 passes for 380 yards and three touchdowns.
The Orange now boast a 5-3 ACC record and a three-game winning streak. The victory vaulted Syracuse into the AP Top-25 Poll for the first time under head coach Fran Brown, landing them at No. 23.
