Who is Chris Tabor?

Chris Tabor is a renowned American football coach. He has been in the news because he was appointed as the interim head coach of the Carolina Panthers for the remainder of the 2023 season.

He was born on 4 March 1971 in St. Joseph, Missouri, US. He did his schooling at Benton High School. His father is Don, who coached high school football in Missouri for 40 years, while the whereabouts of his mother are known. He has three brothers named Donnie, Matt, and Michael. His brothers also played football at Benedictine College.

Later, Chris Tabor graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, with a degree in physical education. His master’s degree in education was later obtained in 1999 from Columbia (Mo.) College.

He is married, and his wife’s name is Nikki Graves. The couple has two daughters named Paityn and Lainey.

He is currently 52 years old.

His career

Chris Tabor began his coaching career in 1993 at Missouri’s Benton High School. He then had positions at Central Methodist University and Hutchinson Community College. He was a standout graduate assistant at the University of Missouri, moving up to manage special teams and running backs.

In 2001, Tabor made waves at Culver-Stockton College with a successful season, marking the school’s first winning record in 15 years. After that, he worked his way up to coaching roles at Western Michigan University and Utah State University before making his NFL debut.

The Chicago Bears were his first NFL team, and it was there that Chris Tabor helped them develop a special teams squad that was always competitive. As a result of Tabor’s achievements, he was hired by the Cleveland Browns as their special teams coordinator in 2011, and many of his players were selected for the Pro Bowl.

Returning to the Bears in 2018, Tabor continued to excel in his role before briefly stepping up as the Bears’ interim head coach in 2021 due to his head coach’s absence.

After joining the Carolina Panthers in 2022, Chris Tabor worked as their special teams coordinator until head coach Frank Reich’s dismissal in November 2023, at which point Tabor was named interim head coach.

While his salary with the Panthers isn’t known, ormer Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich made an estimated $5 – 10 million per year. Reich signed a four-year contract to coach the Panthers on January 26, 2023 and is set to receive $36 million in payout.
