By producing material on his opulent travels, food, and lifestyle, the Indonesian influencer has become well-known. Prior to joining the social media craze, Ben Sumadiwiria was a chef. His fans adore it when he tweets about his ostentatious vehicles, homes, and travels.
A video showing Ben aka Bobby Saputra at what looked to be the wedding of Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani, the youngest child of Indian billionaire and Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, was shared by Sumadiwiria earlier this year. The 31-year-old was shown celebrating and dancing in the widely shared footage.
“It was like watching a Bollywood production,” he can be heard saying in the clip.
With lavish yachts, flashy cars, opulent mansions, and plenty of gorgeous women, his videos which have earned him 2.5 million followers on various social media platforms in less than a year capture the outrageously extravagant lifestyle of a self-described “crazy rich Asian.”
His billionaire Dates Thai Girl, in which a stunning Thai woman feeds him and takes care of the tab (almost 22 million views on Instagram), or Billionaire’s $6,000 Dinner, in which he eats mountains of caviar (15.2 million views on Instagram) videos have gone viral since.
These clips are fascinating because they play on our obsession with riches, extravagance and how the top percentile live. The heightened ridiculousness frequently leaves viewers wondering if he is in on the joke or actually living it in a world where influencers typically produce idealized versions of reality.
