12 years in prison
A simple burglary in Louisiana is considered a felony offense and the punishment may vary depending on the case. One count of simple burglary can lead to punishments like imprisonment, fines, or in some cases even both.
The exact punishment may vary depending on the circumstances of the crime, the value of the property stolen, or even the defendant’s criminal history record.
If the theft counts as Tilotta’s first offense, he could still face up to 12 years in prison. The 19-year-old will have to pay a fine of up to $2000, upon conviction. In fact, the maximum punishment for a simple burglary could lead to 30 years in prison and a $4000 fine.
