According to estimates, roughly 48 lakh candidates from Uttar Pradesh sit in this exam. These large numbers further exacerbate the already tense situation. Concerns over the alleged leak gathered steam on social media, particularly on X (previously Twitter), where people started trend in support of the re-exam.

However, in a significant development related to the paper leak case, it has been revealed that the incident was pre-planned. In the first information report (FIR), police inspector Ram Babu Singh of the Mohan Lal Ganj police station in Lucknow, the Krishnanagar police station, claimed that there had been irregularities in the recruitment exam that was conducted on February 18 at the City Modern Academy School in Alinagar Sunhra.

The purported paper leak has not only caused an uproar in Uttar Pradesh but has resonated nationwide. Enraged by the state of affairs, people and students have started demonstrations throughout the state. Tragically, Brijesh Pal, a 28-year-old jobless man, committed suicide in his Bhoodpurwa house by setting fire to his academic credentials and hanging himself.

Pal, who took part in a police recruitment exam lately, sent a suicide letter expressing his grief about the paper leak and blaming unemployment as the main cause of his extreme action.

 Pal had recently appeared for a police recruitment exam and was upset over the paper leak, his family members said.

“BJP, which deploys every trick to come into power, turns away in the name of providing jobs. It is a very sad news that upset with the tragedy of joblessness, a young man from Kannauj, Brajesh Pal, committed suicide by hanging himself,” Akhilesh Yadav said on X.

Who was Brijesh Pal?

Brijesh Pal was a young Indian who just wanted his dream job, which was police service. However, he recently gained headlines because he committed suicide after losing hope of getting his dream job.

He was a native of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, and had a bachelor’s degree in science. However, even after having a degree, he was unemployed. He was living with his parents and a sister named Sangeeta in his hometown and was preparing for the police service exam.

However, the rumors of a paper leak in a recent police exam shattered his hope and he committed suicide. In his suicide note, he expressed distress over the paper leak, citing joblessness as the primary reason for his drastic step. He wrote,

Now I am upset. What is the use of degrees when one cannot get a job.

According to SHO Vishnu Kant Tiwari of the Sadar Police Station, Pal’s body has been submitted for a post-mortem.

At the time of his death, he was just 28 years old. His suicide has added a human dimension to the larger issue of unemployment and the consequences of alleged irregularities in recruitment processes.
