Following an alleged attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday accused two youth wing leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the incident. In a press briefing, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh named Rohit Sehrawat and Arun Dhall as those responsible for the attack, claiming both were affiliated with BJP’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).

As per his bio, Rohit is the BJP Delhi State Yuva Morcha Vice President.

Displaying their photographs, Sanjay Singh stated, “Rohit Sehrawat is pictured with Home Minister Amit Shah, while Drall is the state general secretary of the BJYM. These individuals are openly threatening that this hooliganism will extend beyond Vikaspuri, to wherever Arvind Kejriwal goes.”

During a padyatra in Delhi’s Vikaspuri on October 25, AAP reported that BJP-affiliated individuals had allegedly attacked Kejriwal, despite his Z-plus security cover. Singh expressed concern, suggesting that BJP’s “politics of hatred and violence” had escalated to the point where they were willing to kill Kejriwal. He remarked that this incident was not an isolated one, pointing out what he described as the BJP’s ongoing attempts to dismantle AAP’s influence.

Singh further accused the Delhi Police of protecting the alleged attackers, contending that “Amit Shah’s police” had been complicit in the assault. He questioned the police’s role, stating that when an attack occurs in their presence, they are responsible for taking action and inquired into how this security lapse had happened, noting that no formal case had yet been filed.

The Delhi Police, overseen by the Union Home Ministry, responded by stating that no complaint from AAP had been received regarding the incident. A police official mentioned that the padyatra had been held in a narrow lane, where anti-AAP slogans were indeed raised, though they claimed no evidence of physical assault or attempted violence had emerged thus far.
