Ben Christman passes away
Ben Christman from Akron, Ohio was a college football player who recently passed away on February 11, 2025. He was a senior offensive lineman in the UNLV football team and played a central role in the team. Christman’s sudden passing has left the entire team as well as the entire university in shock. and the UNLV community is mourning the loss of a beloved teammate and friend.
Cause of death
As of now the exact cause of death remains unknown. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is still investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of death. According to reports, Ben Christman was found dead in his off-campus apartment.

Following the news about the tragic loss of Ben Christman, UNLV head coach Dan Mullen expressed his deep sorrow saying:
Our team’s heart is broken to hear of Ben’s passing. Since the day Ben set foot on our campus a month ago, he made the Rebels a better program. Ben was an easy choice for our leadership committee as he had earned the immediate respect, admiration, and friendship of all his teammates. Our prayers go out to his family and all who knew him. Ben made the world a better place and he will be missed.”
Meanwhile, UNLV President Keith Whitfield also shared his own condolences, stating:
There is little that can be said to lessen the pain of suddenly losing a member of our university family at such a young age, and my heart breaks for all who knew and loved him. On behalf of UNLV, our sincere condolences are with Ben’s family, friends, loved ones, and teammates during this very difficult time.”

Ben Christman was a college football player who hailed from Akron, Ohio. According to his friends and family, he was as a solid, kind, and determined individual. Christman was just 21 years old at the time of his passing.
Education and college football career
Ben had reportedly just recently transferred to the UNLV Rebels after previously playing for the University of Kentucky and Ohio State University. Christman started out his college football career at Ohio State making his debut freshman season in 2021. He played in just one game in 2022. The following year, he suffered a knee injury that prevented him from playing in 2023.
However, the next season, he transferred to Kentucky, where he played 12 games on special teams last season. Despite not spending much time on the field, Christman has made a significant impact and earned the respect of everyone.
Christman played two seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Kentucky in 2023 and according to his bio on Kentucky’s website, Christman went by the nickname “Big Ben” and dreamed of being a coach or player personnel employee of a team after his playing days ended. His favorite family meal was shepherd’s pie and used three words to describe himself: solid, kind, and determined and is survived by his parents Brian and Karen as well as his siblings Thomas and Brooks.
