Police have arrested Danny alongside his lover Samantha Scott, in connection to the murder of his wife Erin Serafini’s parents.
Danny Serafini murders in-laws
The incident took place in June 5 2021, inside a Lake Tahoe-area home in Nevada. Police deputies responded to the home after receiving a 911 call from the residence. Upon arrival, the deputies found Robert Spohr dead from a single gunshot while his wife Wendy, had sustained two gunshot wounds to her head. Wendy underwent extensive surgery and rehabilitation, before she eventually took her own life in a nursing home, just a few months after getting shot.
Just shortly after the incident, investigators recovered video surveillance footage near the victim’s home. The footage showed a man wearing a grey hoodie, white neck gaiter and backpack. The man was walking toward Spohr and Wood’s residence just a few hours before the shooting. Back then, Erin Serafini’s older sister, Adrienne Spohr, stated that her parents were victims of a targeted attack. However, back then, investigators failed to nail down a prime suspect in the case. Just earlier this year in July, 2023, Erin Serafini, formerly known as Erin Spohr, stated:
I have no idea who did that to my parents. I wish I knew. I miss my parents tremendously, and I wish they could see my kids (sons, ages 2 and 5) grow up.”
Police arrest Danny Serafini
Now, two years after the tragic incident, authorities have arrested Danny Serafini based on all the evidence and information gathered during the investigation. Police identified Danny Serafini and his partner Samantha Scott as the prime suspects before the arrest. Authorities reported that they have arrested Serafini and Scott for the murder of Robert and the attempted murder of his wife Wendy. Police arrested the Serafini and Scott on Friday, October 20 in South Las Vegas and Winnemucca, respectively.

Today, justice was served. The apprehension of those responsible for the tragic events that unfolded in Homewood, North Lake Tahoe in 2021 stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of our detectives, law enforcement partners, and the persistence of our pursuit of truth.”
Motive behind the murders
As of now, the exact motive behind the killing remains unclear. According to reports, Danny Serafini stated that he had lost $14 million following his major league career in “bad investments and a bitter divorce settlement.” Back in the early stages of the investigation, media reports suggested that investigators suspected Danny Serafina of having shot his wife’s parents for money in order to pay off debts for his bar business.
