The shocking incident has caused many people to raise questions about the safety of the area, since the area has a history of bad car crashes.
Malibu car crash kills 4 students
The incident took place on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Bohm, who was reportedly traveling westbound, came speeding on PCH before losing control of his BMW. As a result he plowed his way into three parked cars, before crashing into a group of young women who were walking along the road. The four victims were reportedly all killed on the scene while officials took two others to a nearby hospital.
According to multiple witness reports, several people restrained Fraser Michael Bohm when he got out of the vehicle until the arrival of authorities. Authorities are still investigating whether the suspect, was intoxicated during the time of the crash. According to a woman who has lived in the area, the particular stretch of PCH is called “Dead Man’s Curve”. This is because of the significant number of accidents that have taken place in the area due to reckless drivers.
The woman further stated:
Every six months there’s another accident. There was one three months ago, there was one four months ago, and they are all within these five to six houses.”

Following the tragic crash, Pepperdine University officials identified the four students as Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir, and Deslyn Williams. According to reports, all of the four victims were seniors at Pepperdine’s Seaver College of Liberal Arts. Notably, the four students were also members of the Alpha Phi sorority.
According to Asha Weir’s mother, Asha hailed from Philadelphia and she was majoring in English. She had just flown back to Los Angeles on the day of the crash. Meanwhile, Niamh Rolston, who was a native of Los Angeles, was studying business and planning to obtain a master’s degree. Peyton Stewart, who hailed from New York, was also studying business. Deslyn Williams, the fourth victim that Fraser Michael Bohm killed in the carsh, grew up outside Atlanta, and was working to become a veterinarian.
Pepperdine President Jim Gash released an official statement saying:
