Who is Mathias Boe?
Mathias Boe is a badminton player from Denmark who was born on July 11, 1980 in Frederikssund, Denmark. The 43-year-old stands 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in) tall and is a Christian by religion.
A look at Mathias Boe’s career
Mathias won gold in the 2015 European Games, silver in the 2012 Summer Olympics, and was a two-time European champion in 2012 and 2017. At the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China, he joined the Danish winning squad.
In the men’s doubles competition alongside Carsten Mogensen at the 2006 European Championship, he took home the silver medal. 2010 saw Mogensen and Boe triumph in the Taipei Superseries Final as well as the Danish and French Opens. Mogensen and Boe took home the All England Open a year later.
In the 2012 Olympic men’s doubles competition, he and Mogensen took home the silver medal. In the World Championships of 2013, the two brought home the silver medal, although in the end, they were defeated by Muhammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan.
In April 2020, Boe, at 39 years old, announced his retirement from professional badminton, despite having stated in February 2020 that the Olympic Games or the Thomas Cup would be his final competition. He is the India national badminton team’s men’s doubles coach at the moment.
