Have a look at the biography, education and net worth of SP’s Awadhesh Prasad
It was anticipated that the BJP will win with ease following the completion of the Ram temple dedicated to Lord Ram. But Awadhesh Prasad of the SP is ahead by more than fifty thousand votes in the city.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost its key hot seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which is a significant setback compared to the general elections in 2019. Another seat where the BJP has had a stronghold is Faizabad. Trends indicate that the BJP’s sitting member Lallu Singh, who represents the Faizabad constituency, home of the Ram Mandir, is losing the party’s pivotal seat and has already conceded loss to Awadhesh Prasad of the Samjwadi Party.

Awadhesh Prasad career
79 year old Awadhesh Prasad is a well-known Indian politician who was among the first members of the Samajwadi Party (SP). He currently serves as both a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and the general secretary of the SP national leadership. He was elected nine times as an MLA: in 1977, 1985, 1989, 1993, 1996, 2002, and 2007 from the former Sohawal (SC) seat; in 2012 and 2022, he was elected from Milkipur (SC).
He has held cabinet positions in four of his six ministerial appointments in the Uttar Pradesh government.
At age 21, Prasad started his political career. He served as the anti-Emergency Sangarsh Samiti’s co-convener for the Faizabad district. In Amethi, he served as a Lok Dal poll worker in the 1977 Indian general election. In 1992, he was elected as national secretary and admitted into the central parliamentary board upon the founding of the Samajwadi Party. Since then, he has primarily served as the party’s organiser.
He rose to the position of minister in the Samajwadi Party administrations of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav as well as the Janata Party governments of Ram Naresh Yadav and Babu Banarasi Das. His tight relationship with party president Akhilesh Yadav makes him one of the few experienced politicians who supported him in the party’s pre-election leadership race.
