Mitchell James Owen is an Australian cricketer who was born on September 16, 2001, in Kingston. He is a young and upcoming Australian cricketer renowned for his all-round abilities. Mitchell made his Twenty20 debut on January 12, 2021, for the Hobart Hurricanes in the 202/21 Big Bash League season. He then went on to make his List A debut on February 22, 2021, for Tasmania in the 2020/21 Marsh One-Day Cup.

Mitchell Owen is an Australian cricketer who mainly plays as a right-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace for the Hobart Hurricanes as well as for the Tasmanian Tigers. Owen started out his cricketing journey at a young age as part of Tasmania’s second XI. There, he developed his skills before stepping eventually joining the higher levels of cricket.
Owen made his Twenty20 debut for the Hobart Hurricanes back on January 12, 2021, during the 2020-21 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) season. The 23-year-old represented Tasmania in both List A and first-class cricket and made his List A debut in the Marsh One-Day Cup. He then made his first-class debut on October 3, 2023, against South Australia. Over the years, Owen has accumulated a significant batting strike rate of 171. He is also notably the first batter to hit 11 sixes in the BBL finals history.
Mitchell started out the 2024-25 BBL season with an opening batsman role and scored his maiden T20 century. The all-rounder scored an impressive 101 runs off 64 balls against the Perth Scorchers on December 21, 2024. He has since continued on that fiery run of form and has now had the joint-fastest century in the history of BBL.
Mitchell Owen didn’t register for the Indian Premier League 2025 auction and won’t be playing this season as of now.
