38-year-old Varun Ghosh of Indian descent from Western Australian was born in 1985 to Bengali parents. He attended the Christ Church Grammar School before pursuing higher education at the University of Western Australia where he earned degrees in Arts and Law.

Varun Ghosh was born in Canberra on 30 August 1985 and is the son of Indian immigrants who moved to Australia in the 1980s and both his parents worked as doctors. Nothing is known about his marital status.

He went on to study arts and law at the University of Western Australia and later studied at Darwin College, Cambridge on the Frank Downing Law Scholarship and is currently serving at Francis Burt Chambers.
