American professional football coach and former linebacker Jeffery aka Jeff Wade Ulbrich is the defensive coordinator for the National Football League’s (NFL) Atlanta Falcons.

Jax Ulbrich, the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, has come forward to accept responsibility for a prank call that took the sports world by surprise and ruined one of the most significant evenings of Shedeur Sanders’ football career.

Jeff Ulbrich transferred to Gavilan College after redshirting his only season at San Jose State. During his one season at Gavilan College in Gilroy, California, he was named to the first team of the Conference and was named team MVP.
He started for Hawaii for two years. As a senior, he was selected to the All-WAC first team and was named team co-captain. At middle linebacker, he started each of the 12 games. In his final year, he set a school record of 169 tackles (42 solo), leading the league. Ulbrich broke the previous school record of 97 aided tackles with 127.

He had eight sacks for 67 yards, good for third place in the league. He had 58 yards and 15 tackles for loss. He was given credit for one caused fumble, two fumble recoveries, and eight quarterback pressures.
In the third round (86th overall) of the 2000 NFL draft, Ulbrich was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers from the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa. Due to a right shoulder injury, he only played in four games during his first campaign. In 2001, he secured the starting position.
He played inside linebacker for just five games in 2005 before missing the rest of the season due to a torn biceps muscle. In 2006, he started nine of sixteen games. Ulbrich played special teams and as a backup to Patrick Willis, a first-round selection. Following a concussion on October 19, 2009, he was placed on injured reserve.
On December 9, Ulbrich declared his intention to retire due to the concussion. When he retired, he stated that his dream job would be coaching college football.
