Who is Issam Asinga?

Issam Asinga was born in Atlanta on December 29, 2004. But he was raised in Zambia, the country of his mother’s birth. Asinga’s father, Tommy Asinga, who still holds the 400m, 800m, and 1500m records for Surinam, undoubtedly contributed to his son’s exceptional athletic abilities. The 18-year-old athlete measures 1.83 m (6 ft 0 in)

As a matter of fact, he competed for Surinam at the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Olympic Games. Along with his father, Ngozi Mwanamwambwa, his mother, a former sprinter for Zambia, also represented her nation at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. At Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996, Mwanamwambwa ran track and competed in the 100, 200, and 400 metres.

The former sprinter from Zambia was a seven-time track NCAA Division III All-American. Tommy competed in the 800m at three different Olympics, in Seoul in 1988, Barcelona in 1992, and Atlanta in 1996. His older sister, Busiwa Asinga, a sprinter who specialises in the 400-meter hurdles, was also born in the USA.

My family motivates me to work hard both on and off the track,” Asinga said. “I’m so grateful for all their advice—advice on how to be a better man and a better athlete.”

Asinga is a senior at Montverde High School in Florida right now. At the start of the new academic year, he will soon enrol at Texas’ esteemed A&M University.

On April 23 of this year, Asinga made headlines in the PURE Athletics Spring Invitational in Clermont, Florida. He defeated the current top athlete Noah Lyles, whose time was 9.92s, to win the 100m race with an outstanding time of 9.83s.
